Embark Master Planned Community Development
Environmentally sensitive civil construction works for a new community
Project Overview
Leeuwin Civil has been engaged on the civil preparation works for Embark, a master planned community just north of Busselton, since January 2023.
Since this time, Leeuwin Civil has constructed 120 lots for this community and is currently working on additional 80 lots, which are due to be completed by Easter 2027.
Works have included bulk earthworks comprising of more than 150,000 m3 cut to fill, construction of sewers of up to 6 metres in depth - made easier through the use of Leeuwin Civil’s own in-house dewatering capabilities, construction of 18,000 m2 of road pavement, 9 km of stormwater drainage, 14 km of subsoil, as well as water mains, gas, power and comms installations.
Stringent environmental controls have also been adopted on this development project due to the native fauna present in the area, in particular the endangered Western Ringtail Possum local to the region. To protect this federally Endangered Fauna species, Leeuwin Civil environmental management initiatives included engaging fauna spotters on the works. So far this has led to the successful identification and careful relocation of six Western Ringtail Possums, which has been a proud achievement for the team.
